Awesome Angst-ridden 5 Minutes of Teen Angst
I’m watching Hal Hartley’s “Unbelievable Truth” for the first time, and in 5 minutes Adrienne Shelly rejects college, quits her job, admits to suicidal thoughts, breaks up with her boyfriend and is terrorized by the prospect of nuclear annihilation. “The school psychologist says I’m apathetic.” Relatable!
Smashing Pumpkins Meets the Peanuts
In 2000 CMJ put out a Smashing Pumpkins parody comic strip that compared Billy Corgan to Charlie Brown, a sadsack musician who bemoans the changing music industry with the help of his bandmates James Iha (Linus), D’Arcy (Sally) and Melissa Auf Der Maur (Peppermint Patty).
